The BioHotel is a new model of OpenCell for flexible and fully serviced lab-space for life science companies. It brings OpenCell's modular labs indoors and transforms underutilised retail space into valuable laboratory space.
All BioHotel laboratories are connected to a virtual twin to plan experiments, book and collect data from equipment, and monitor the ideal conditions such as airflow, temperature and humidity from home or the office. The labs have reproducibility, scalability, and regulations at their heart to enable companies to move fast and seamless from R&D to trials to production.
The “hotel for scientists” provides a cluster of small labs, within a large facility, available for short-term rental by biotech startups with a range of shared services and facilities.
Besides private labs, the BioHotel facilities provide access to equipment worth hundreds of thousands of pounds for a few pounds per day. Our services include (cold) deliveries, clinical waste, auditing and an integrated consumable store allowing companies to focus on the development of their technology instead of investing time and money into their infrastructure.
The first BioHotel location is tailored for the needs of diagnostic and therapeutics companies.
In keeping with OpenCell’s mission to bring down the barriers to entry to biotechnology, early-stage, investor-backed, biotech startups (SEIS eligible) will be able to access the facility free for their first three months. The space opens in Westworks, White City, London in Q2 2022 with labs for up to 50 biotechs.
