Cellul-air

With increasing urbanization we're faced with an urgent crisis, the air in our cities is becoming increasingly toxic, causing upwards of 4.5 million deaths each year. Cellul-air joins the fight for clean air in a new, visual way, powered by microbes. Using the principles of bioremediation, our bacteria-filled modules are designed to take in urban air and breathe out clean, purified air. Bioremediation is a natural process in which microbes absorb and transform noxious pollutants. Each chosen microbial species is able to process a specific pollutant, enabling Cellul-air clusters to specialise to the locations they’re placed in.
thinkTANK is a studio comprised of designers and engineers. They aim to address big problems with unconventional solutions. They incorporate emerging technology in their work, collaborating with researchers at the forefront of their specialism, to provoke dialogue and questions about the near and far future.
